This series seems to offer the best value for money, although oddly I see them being sold individually in dollar stores for, you guessed it, $1. Tried the sock version without putting them in an enclosed environment (shoes/boots) and decided to see how long they would last outdoors. Even when uncovered you can feel heat through socks or clothing for some time, outdoor heaters lasted at full power for about 4 hours and then gradually began to lose their ability to generate heat. Although the heat generated after 4 hours is sufficient for most cold weather conditions and can probably last 8 hours with proper ventilation. I do not recommend that you use 2 heating pads in the same spot to double the heat as they may get too hot and cause discomfort and possibly a slight burning sensation. I would recommend they be part of your first aid kit and/or travel gear for people living in cold climates. If you break down in a cold climate without easy access to heat, they are invaluable in such a situation. They are also good for snow clearing/snow clearing in winter to keep you warm when out in the cold for long periods of time. Pros: Non-toxic and odorless. Easy to use, just expose to air. Good durability Cons: Single use If the heating pad is damaged in the packaging and/or exposed to air, it will become unusable
