Review on 🏎️ Auto Meter 3788 Sport-Comp Silver Tachometer - Compact Performance Mini Model by Hunter Schneider

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Accurate gauge in electrics

This is a simplified version of the diesel tachometer. If your car is as old as mine and you don't want to find tons of bad wires for your stock sensor, this is a good option. The best part is that it just attaches to the alternator and a few wires to the pressure gauge, that's it for the transmitter. The yoke they give you should be able to tie down the half generator so be prepared to trim it down to size, that's the only caveat. The liquid filled sensor is definitely worth the extra money, it keeps spikes to a minimum, for example downshifting remains very accurate. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is the price, although the price when purchased was lower than the previous model: an Auto Meter 2888 Performance Series mini diesel tachometer on a pedestal. Between the two, the difference lies in the liquid-filled pressure gauge. Like all quality automatic gauges, this one is made in the USA (remember that it says nothing about a COO that can only be used with products made in the USA). I say that because the ones made abroad are not of high quality at all. This sensor is also well lit as it should be, this is a small face so it's well lit at night. The small size allows me to place it just behind the wheel in front of the dash and I can still see the stock tachometer when it decides to run and it's reassuring that the autometer is usually up a couple of 100rpm/ min is off. Calibration is not so complicated that you have to carry it to the store. I was able to calibrate it at around 1600 rpm and then again at 1400.
