Simple and precise

Good little machine for the price. There are no on/off switches, you first put two AAA batteries in the receiver/display unit and then two more AAA batteries in the sensor/transmitter, to access you have to loosen four small screws (screwdriver included). Once the batteries are in both pieces, press the small button on the back of the transmitter next to the battery compartment to ensure it syncs with the receiver. Don't be alarmed if the temperature initially seems low, it took about 20 minutes for my instrument to stabilize and give consistently accurate readings. I placed the transmitter outside on my deck in the shade and also inserted the probe. The sensor appears to be slightly more accurate since it isn't touching a surface, but the difference is minimal, only about 0.5 Fahrenheit. Moisture readings are consistent between the probe and transducer. In general, this is a good performing device, easy to set up and use. I recommend it.
