Review on ⌚ Timex Ironman Run X50+ Smart Fitness Watch by Victoria Gomez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great all round smartwatch but with some limitations.

First I want everyone to be clear about what this watch IS and isn't. analog dial option with second hand for peace of mind for those of you in the healthcare industry who need a second hand. Switching between watch faces is very easy with the up/down selection buttons on the side, but sometimes they bump and you have to go back to the watch face you originally selected. What it is NOT: - You can find info somewhere that says it tracks sleep. As far as I've seen, there is NO way to track sleep. This is NOT an activity tracker, a fact I didn't fully realize until it was already posted. As long as you understand its limitations, I've found it to be an exceptionally useful watch. The face isn't too big, which has bothered me with some other options. I love the fact that it can show notifications from all apps on my Android phone (don't worry, you have full control over which apps can send notifications to the watch). For example, when I set a reminder in the Google app, the watch shows a reminder. However, for notifications to work, the phone needs to be within range, which I think is about 30 feet +/- 5 feet or so. There are 3 alarms that can be set (notifications will vibrate, sound or both) either on the watch or via the free Timex app. And now for the worse. I had several connection issues that required restarting the phone (which usually fixes the issue). I also had trouble trying to integrate the watch with the fitness apps it claims to support (Wahoo, Strava, Runkeeper, etc.). Every time I try to connect to the fitness app, the bluetooth disconnects and I have to either restart the phone or forget the watch and pair again. The battery life is about 2 days, but it only takes about 45-60 minutes to charge. That said, I really love the watch for what it does and I'm willing to put up with some inconveniences. I ended up buying the Jawbone UP Move for activity and sleep tracking and I really like only having one thing on my wrist (the watch). I paid about $65 for Revain and found that it is now advertised for $97. I probably wouldn't have paid a higher price but for what I paid I really like it.
