Bought them for snowboarding. Tried them on all day and wore them under shell pants. They are very bulky and might not fit under my pants if the pants weren't as baggy as they are. The plastic protective cap protrudes from the upholstery behind it and slightly raises the profile of the upholstery. They also limit your movement when you bend your knees. The pads have two sets of Velcro on the top and bottom of the pads. A set of straps would have worked just as well. Numerous straps make removal difficult. In general, protection is good, but movements are limited. Not ideal for active sports that involve bending your knees. I gave this four stars because of the relatively low price and the fact that they stay in place and don't slip on your foot all day snowboarding.
