Review on RCA Amplified Antenna Discontinued Manufacturer by Susan Johnson

! THIS IS ONE!

I had a $12 RCA ANT200B antenna that served me well in the analog days. I was blown away by the reception from a friend and bought one just like that. Last October I finally bought a Sony Bravia W Series HDTV and decided it was time to find the right signal source. So, after countless years without him, I signed up for Satellite. It was great BUT EXPENSIVE. Coincidentally, my kids bought me a Roku box Roku digital video player for Christmas along with a pre-paid annual Netflix subscription. With a $9/month Netflix subscription, not only do I get two DVDs a week of my selection of over 100,000 movies in the mail, but USING THIS ROKU box gives me INSTANT ACCESS over the internet to a pool of over 100,000 movies. 12,000 movies and TV shows. Of course you need high speed internet (mine is 3Mbps) and since the quality of Netflix videos decreases during peak hours of the day (in this case change the ROKU display setting from *HDTV* to *16:9 anamorphic* for a better one Picture). By the way, I preselect movies over the internet with my browser, both for the mail queue and the instant queue. Well sir, with all these $9/month movies at my disposal (when my current subscription ends), I decided the AMAZING satellite service (with a really great DVR) wasn't worth it. But I wanted access to local channels and needed a REALLY GOOD ANTENNA that would give me HDTV worthy signals. I decided I needed to spend some money. I did a little research and ordered an Antennas Direct DB2 Multi Directional HDTV antenna for $40. This antenna didn't even fit my cheap RCA ANT200B. So I decided I needed to spend MORE money and ordered a $110 Winegard SS-2000 Squareshooter Boosted UHF Antenna. Better but still not up to my 12USD ANT200B. Well sir I finally got smart and decided I need the latest version of my ANT200B. RCA sells antennas from different manufacturers. ANT200B is/is manufactured by Thomson. So I ordered this ANT525, also from Thomson. JACKPOT! In Miami, Florida, I receive 34 digital channels (today there are still several analogue channels), about 10 of which are in Spanish (two of which also have programs in English). A couple of channels are weather-only, one is almost entirely sports, and programming on the pair sometimes overlaps with that on the other (sister) channel. I also received over 20 analogue channels before the change, but the quality was not very good, so this antenna seems to be more digitally oriented. Reception on 28 of the 34 channels is fantastic, while on the other six (all Spanish) reception varies depending on the weather and time of day. Work. Having said that, I have to assume that the broadcasters have increased their transmission power on the digital channels after the switch, as not only do I get more digital channels, but I also have a lot less problems finding a good FIXED position. so that the antenna works better (extension cable for analogue?). Then positioning the compressed extensions forward so that the ends (about an inch apart) are in the same position or lower than things hanging in front of the satellite dish will potentially improve your reception - for whatever it is was no reason - I have no idea why. That's just my experience before the move when I was fighting for a good position. I've also found that the antenna works well with reflected signals. To find out where the stations are in your area RELATIVE TO YOU, go to the ORG page, click "Select Antenna" (actually it's the antenna type) and type in your address! THIS IS ONE AMIGOS!
