Review on πŸ–€ De'Longhi EC680M Stainless Steel Metallic Espresso Machine by Shawn Mcfee

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works well although an issue needs investigation

I have had this product for over a year now. Firstly, I would definitely buy this again, especially now that I've dealt with an issue that isn't covered in the guide for it. Basically, it makes much better espresso than my older budget espresso machine and doesn't cost as much as the really premium versions. I've been using medium roast beans from the start instead of the oilier and darker beans that seem to cause problems for some. From that perspective, all I can say is that a medium roast works well, and if you can find a good one, it tastes great (to judge this comment, please note that I live in Portland, Oregon, where it's nice, being a coffee snob is a residency requirement, so that's high praise). The only problem that took some time to solve: for several months I was frustrated with it because maybe 1 out of 5 times that I used it the coffee worked like a cork and didn't let water through which resulted in this that everything had to be cleaned and reboot. The troubleshooting tips in the guide didn't help - I tried/tested every fix tip and the problem persisted. At that moment I was strongly tempted to return the product. What the instructions don't say is that it's important to make sure the metal cup and removable metal strainer are completely dry before pouring in the coffee. completely gone and the product works great throughout. I think using wet ingredients (essentially washed but not dried) caused the coffee to sometimes form a sort of pasty clog that wouldn't let hot water through. After solving this problem, the product worked very well and I recommend it unreservedly.

Pros

Cons
