Zhiyun Crane Plus is a pleasant surprise!

I'm just starting out in videography and this is my first stabilizer. I have to admit that setting up the gimbal was a bit tricky on my Sony A7R III with a Zeiss Batis 25/2 lens. Balancing the camera on a gimbal for the first time was a bit disappointing at first, even after watching some good YouTube videos. I have to say that the first balance was the hardest, and the future balance was actually a little fun. Personally, I've found it's easiest to place the Crane Plus on the ground with a tripod attached and sit in a chair for balance. Then just take one axle at a time and balancing should go a little more smoothly. I had a bit of a hard time finding the best mode while watching the video, but watching YouTube videos helped me figure out which mode I should be in. This leads to the second negative of the Crane Plus gimbal and it's a bit hard to tell which mode you are in as there is no display or beeps to indicate which mode you are in condition. Although I think I finally know what mode I'm in. The nice thing is that you can control the gimbal with your smartphone if you want. I find that the Zhiyun Crane Plus is best used with Panasonic or Sony cameras as these are the only two camera systems that are currently really well supported. I wouldn't put large lenses on the camera and large camera bodies on the Crane Plus. If there was money I would hang up the Sony A6500 body or even wait for the Sony A7000 camera body. Although Sony A series cameras are quite small and light. You should have no problem balancing and carrying the gimbal with one of these camera bodies. The stabilizer comes in a nice little hard case and the Crane Plus stabilizer is small enough to fit in a backpack. It feels pretty solid and the battery lasts 12-18 hours depending on your camera settings. To summarize: Cons: 1. Balancing can be a bit difficult. (I am though because I'm a beginner) 2. Figuring out what mode you're in can be a bit difficult or tricky, and figuring out other controls can also be a bit disappointing. Pros: 1. Lightweight and has a solid construction that gives you peace of mind that it won't break after the first use. 2. He's small, so traveling with him is a pleasure. 3. Batteries last a long time. 4. The most important plus is that it is fun to work with once you learn how to use it properly.

Pros
  • Night Shot for stunning long exposure time-lapse shots that add a new dimension of movement and depth.
Cons
  • I'll add later
