It's not worth it

I really wish I could say I love this product for the amazing price I paid for it ($139 including shipping from Revain), but it comes back. If you're like me scouring popular magazines/websites for customer reviews, reading reviews on Revain and elsewhere, I'll give you the highlights. 1) Stand NOT included. My desk (for better or for worse) is a 6 foot folding table (hey, don't laugh, it gets the job done). But the spot where the monitor sat on my desk was the most uneven spot. So I started with the paper folded under one page. Then I took a solid piece of cork flooring (it happened to be lying around) and laid the monitor on it - still uneven. Finally leveled again with many folded sheets of paper under one side of the cork base. However, every time I typed, the screen shook back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. NO, I'm not typing with a sledgehammer. Just an ordinary, ordinary, everyday person typing. Watch the screen shake as you type SUCK. 2) No height adjustment. After putting the damn thing on a piece of cork flooring and trying to level it, the screen was no longer in the "gold zone". Lift my head an inch or two and suddenly all the text is crisp and clear. Leaving the head in the normal position, some of the text looked clear, some didn't. Not used to seeing jagged and rough text on the screen, it sucks 3) Infinite settings. I fiddled and fiddled and fiddled and fiddled and fiddled and fiddled with the controls. After that I made some adjustments. WHAT I DID, the colors had washed out and didn't look the same as they used to. And what was it you ask? 20" flat Apple LCD. I have: a) I literally NEVER had to make an adjustment (OK, so I lied. I adjusted the brightness ONCE). b) NO PROBLEMS with the stand quality. The screen does NOT wobble when typing. c) Colors are great and not washed out. d) Text looks sharp and clear. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHERE MY HEAD IS! Folks, look, this isn't meant to be rocket science. I thought I had gotten a fantastic deal (a little more space, very low energy costs, the latest LED technology, a brand name I've actually HEARD of before, etc.). There's a reason these Apple monitors have received significantly higher ratings. One bad thing: Revain will charge me over $12 for the privilege of returning it. sigh. From the experience I've had, IT'S OVER. So bottom line. Would I buy it again? No. Would I recommend it to a friend? Not at all. May I encourage you to buy one? That's up to you. But if it were me I might look at a better brand and definitely stick with the ones with height adjustment. THAT is crucial in my book.
