Sturdy enough for the price

For the price I was expecting something lighter and not as strong as it is now. (The last one I had at this price looked pretty flimsy but luckily my ex-wife took it :) I'm not in the business so I ship fairly infrequently so I don't really need the very best of reliable Post line scales , so this level of quality at this price point is great for me as spending more would be a waste of money. I typically use these scales to send returns from time to time or to ship items to buyers on auction sites. maybe 3 times a month on average. Although I usually drive to the post office or another vehicle, If I print the label and pay the postage online, I can (at least with USPS) get a discount on the shipping cost, but I need to know the weight of the item. Such scales pay for themselves very quickly on the Internet. Discounts on label printing and time saved queuing while the clerk weighs the packages for you. If you don't schedule a pickup, at least the packages will take a lot less time to unload. I put a set of 40 pound dumbbells on this thing to test and it handled it with no problems and read it accurately. I seriously doubt I'll ever have to ship anything too heavy for this scale. One of the really great things about this thing is the "Hold" button, which freezes the display so you can take the box off to read it. With my latest scale, I had trouble reading the information on the display when a large bezel was placed on it. (Note that more expensive commercial shipping scales usually have a display at the end of the twisted pair cable to avoid this problem.) The hold button allows you to place a box large enough to cover the display on the scale, and then a Wait a while Reach under it and press the hold button. Then simply take the large box from the item and read the weight. There's also a tare button, although it's not as useful for shipping. When I ship USPS stuff with online purchase labels, I typically save a little over a dollar per box. Even if this item would die after shipping 20-25 boxes, would it still last long enough to pay itself. In view of,
