I did some research and found that this condenser mic is a great option for beginners, among other things. I've done SEVERAL records and podcasts with him and am very impressed with the way this boy plays. I would STRONGLY advise you to go to YouTube with a good quality pair of headphones and listen to VARIOUS user reviews of this mic. After compiling a list of possible candidates, I listened very carefully as each of them spoke in different voices. For my needs it was between this mic and the AT2020. I'll admit I was trying to save an extra $20, but I feel like it was definitely the right choice for me in the end. Remember if you are new to using condenser microphones, they require 48V phantom power. You need to pair this little can-sized beauty with a preamp if you really want to get any sound out of it. I personally chose a Saramonic SmartRig+ 2-channel XLR/3.5mm mixer to get the job done. Those two things go incredibly well together, FYI. Especially if you want a great mobile setup, this mixer lets you use the MXL 770 with just about any smartphone or tablet. iRig Pre is another great option if you only need to record one channel at a time. Hope that helps!
