I bought this to use with my Baofeng UV-9R PLUS. In short, this is the right cable. Buy it. My tablet PC is an old device by today's standards. This is Dell Venue 11 Pro with Windows 8.1, 32-bit operating system, x64-based processor, Intel Atom Z3770 processor. It found the cable automatically when plugged into the USB port. I didn't use the mini disc that came with it. I downloaded CHIRP, my tablet only has a USB port so it shows up in CHIRP. You may need to specify the correct port number - I don't need to. BUT, you must tell Chirp the manufacturer (Vendor = Baofeng) and model of the radio (Model = UV-9R) or he won't see it. Once I did that Chirp was able to read my radio and I saved the original setup file to my computer. Then I started playing around with the functions and downloading different settings to my radio. Back: a simple wound on the body. The cable came with a screw to attach it to the radio. However, the screw is not held in its hole on the cable. The dust protection screw of the radio is retained. This is a bit annoying as it's a test of skill to put that screw back in place. Correction: The screw has a deep recess on the cable. I made a small, snug fitting rubber O-ring out of the data cable, which I then slid into the recess after the screw was in place. I put the screw in its hole and then pressed the o-ring onto the screw. This allows the screw to rotate but stays in place when the cable is disconnected from the radio. To hold the o-ring in place, a small bead of rosin flux was applied to the outside edge of the o-ring before pressing it in place. This added additional stickiness to its interface with the sinker of the screw. Everything is fine in Radioland π
