I cut leather for bracelets, earrings etc. I was having accuracy issues and thought it was my cutting tools. However, I used a kitchen rug and it's not the same at all. This thick mat helps keep the tip of my cutting tool in the mat until I reach the end of the cut. The leather edges are cleaner, MUCH cleaner, and my product looks better with less effort. I would assume this rug would help with other things I do but I bought it for leather and the difference is huge. According to my caliper, it's about 3mm thick, or 1/8 inch, and I think the texture helps get those sharp lines. About three times thicker than the kitchen rugs I've used. The centimeter grid helped me a lot because my cuts have to be precise. Great product from this supplier. It takes a million components and tools for one person to make jewelry, and when I find a tool this good, I feel compelled to check it out. It's just a silicone mat, but really good.
