Review on πŸ” Enhanced Magnavox NB500MG1F Blu-ray Disc DVD Player with HDMI, 1080p Upconversion, and SD Card Slot by Scott Pentapati

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not bad as a second player or sleeper

I can't say I like it (4 stars) or I like it (5 stars), but the Blu-ray player made in China met my expectations , which explains the solid 3 stars, which means "It's ok". A NOTICE. I bought my "refurbished" at half price. As a player, this is a cheap, basic, no-frills device that does the job I've come to expect from it and nothing more - plays Blu-ray, DVD and audio. drives in the bedroom. Can't expect anything more than basic playback from it, but so far it plays everything flawlessly. The picture is sharp and clear, as is the sound. There have been no cracks so far and old DVDs that no longer played on the replaced DVD player can be rewatched and played flawlessly. First of all, what the player lacks: access to the Internet. There's no ethernet port and no wifi, so there'll never be Netflix or Pandora streaming or anything that requires a network connection. Also, there's no easy way to upgrade it, or if it can be upgraded, the ability isn't documented in the manual. On the plus side, apart from basic playback, this model does DVD upscaling fairly well and has an SD slot - it supports SD (miniSD and microSD require an adapter) and SDHC and does NOT support miniSDHC or microSDHC cards. You should be able to view JPEG images. Available connections include HDMI out, audio out, component video out, digital out (coaxial), and video out. 2-page manual and RCA component video cable. I have no complaints about this model. By its very nature, this is a budget Blu-ray player with basic features. So far it has worked as expected. ____________________________________________________________ IF you decide to use the "Refurbished" version still available from Revain at the time of writing this, you may know this: The unit I received was dirty. This is no exaggeration. It had greasy, visible fingerprints and handprints, and I had to work hard to get it clean. He was scratched too. The scratches were minor but still scratched. The repair manual for the device is a bound photocopy of the original, but can be read. I realize that "refurbished" is a pretty vague term, but I'm spoiled by the "like new" quality of the refurbished items I've received from Linksys or Logitech. This unit arrived in far from 'new' condition. Due to the not entirely new quality of this refurbished product, it should be noted that the original Maganvox 1 year warranty is not covered. Instead, you get a 90-day warranty that "does not cover cosmetic appearance" (quote). Also, the buyer should pay for the shipping. ________________________________________________________________ I don't know if I should consider myself lucky to have received a working device but I can only leave feedback on the product I received which worked fine after cleaning and connecting to a TV. . The lack of high-end features comes as no disappointment or surprise and makes up for the low price. The apparent lack of support is worrying, but again, this isn't an expensive product. The 3 stars are well deserved for what I got but I wouldn't recommend it as a 'buy' unless you're buying as a 'second' player for a bedroom or maybe a child's room. 5 months after my purchase it was working perfectly. beautiful. It was a good buy. -->> Brushing your teeth is the law! <<
