Review on Dorel Living Nailhead Square Ottoman with Built-in Storage by Melissa Mack

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Looks better online

Appearances can be deceiving. In this case they are. The function is ok, right height for the chair I bought the stool for. The fabric looks ok but on closer inspection it probably won't last long (just received it today). The legs are the only assembly required, which is a plus if you've ever tried installing spring-loaded hinges. The "nailheads" aren't really like that, they're more like a string of pearls in that they're stamped out of metal and attached to one another by a thin strip of the metal they're made of. Looks cheesy. Too bad I didn't have a strip of fabric to see if this color would work in my living room first as it doesn't go with anything! Guilty. The instructions say the weight capacity is 50 pounds! It cannot be used as a stool. It would be nice to know that beforehand too. I would compare it to Ikea quality, not Ethan Allen. I did quite a bit of searching looking for the right ottoman and was won over by the (relatively) low price as I didn't want to spend $1,000 on a footstool. So be forewarned: you get what you pay for.
