Good sound quality, very dark screen

Good for a phone but unlike any other device with adjustable display contrast, there is no display contrast adjustment and even a backlight. But some sort of automatic power saving scheme that CANNOT be turned off makes it almost unreadable. Even adding a premium battery from the $19.99 Batteries Plus store, which is more than I paid for the phone, doesn't help.
