My nitrate levels kept going up. Got it and after a few weeks it has been stable ever since. Reduced frequency of water changes. It really captures everything well. the water is always clean. You cut them with a razor, and each sheet yields many useful pieces. With 3 packs of leaves, each filter costs next to nothing. Replaced the entire filter in my little Aqueon and added it on top of my Agua Clear filter set. So I wash them after 2 weeks and throw them away when I clean the aquarium after 4 weeks.
