Seems to help: Fish & Aquatic Pets

My nitrate levels seem to have gone down since using these filter pads. Unfortunately, this product didn't get me to notice the noticeable change their ammonia pads have.

Pros
  • Best
Cons
  • Definitely Bad Product

Does NOT reduce nitrates

Tested before and after with API test kit - no nitrate reduction. Another option is to take a strong anion resin filter cartridge and pump water through it if you want to remove nitrates from aquarium water or make-up water. Anion resin brand Omnipure or Intelifil.

Pros
  • Test for one year
Cons
  • Newer model could have been selected

Great for pimping your filter!

I use these gaskets in several of my canister filters and they work great. They're pretty easy to cut and last long enough if you use some sort of pre-filter to keep biological material out of them. I saved a lot of money using these instead of the Fluval media packs which do the same thing.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Not sure

Works great, good value

My nitrate levels kept going up. Got it and after a few weeks it has been stable ever since. Reduced frequency of water changes. It really captures everything well. the water is always clean. You cut them with a razor, and each sheet yields many useful pieces. With 3 packs of leaves, each filter costs next to nothing. Replaced the entire filter in my little Aqueon and added it on top of my Agua Clear filter set. So I wash them after 2 weeks and throw them away when I clean the aquarium after 4…

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

nitrate reducer? for fish and aquatic animals

I bought this product a while ago and use it all the time but the results are disappointing. It's a great filter, but my nitrate levels stay at 10ppm, period. I do weekly water changes, 20% and vacuum the gravel once a month. I change the Acurel filter weekly. Looking at the bottom of the tank, the gravel is perfectly clean. I also use Seachem Pristine. I have no phosphates and am reading 0.0 to 0.25ppm. I keep 13 small fish in 29 gallons. Tank. Needless to say I am disappointed.

Pros
  • Absolutely brilliant!
