We bought it for a very small bedroom. They're small, but not too small, and with LED lights that can't burn out the hue, they're pretty sleek. Because of the base, your electrical box should sit flush with the wall. We didn't have one, but we just cut out a square of wood with a hole in the middle, painted it matte black and used it as a spacer and it worked and looked good. Our gap was about 1/2 inch. It wasn't worth the hassle and ripping up the wall as we had just redone and repainted it but the sealing idea was invisible. People noticed the elegance of the sconce. With 420 lumens of LED light, they give off an enormous amount of light.
