I have a Tumi computer case for my laptop, but when I added an Asus portable monitor as a second monitor I needed a way to protect the screen. basically packing the equivalent of two laptops into one backpack. The monitor came with a protective film that only covered the screen, but I needed something to cover the entire unit before putting it in my backpack. It works perfectly. The heavy felt and case liner protects my entire monitor as well as my laptop, and an additional pocket keeps the cabling for the device together (small adapters are easy to lose). A large "mousepad" made of felt provides significantly more protection when everything is packed. Feel-wise, I don't think its ability to keep out rain or moisture is very good, but I don't think that's what it was designed for. Per. Can't comment on how durable it is as mine will be in a different bag but overall it's a good option for me as extra protection when packing my gear.
