Their mechanical abilities should probably be slightly above average, but the brave will survive. All you need is a pair of needle nose pliers and a pair of torque screwdrivers. But first go to YouTube and watch the Dyson Change Over Valve video, you won't regret it. [.]Requires removal of BOTH ball halves, the filter and the liner (four bolts) under the filter. Note that you can remove the non-filter half by inserting the tips of needle nose pliers into the center holes and twisting counterclockwise. Use the same needle nose pliers in the grooves to remove the nut - underneath the two washers, don't lose them. Once you have done this you will have a clear idea of the task. Be careful not to break the posts when removing the springs on either side. Carefully remove the broken pieces, paying attention to their orientation, especially the feathers - maybe you want to take a picture with your phone? Repeat the process to install new parts (note that the parts come with two screws and washers in case you lose one). Plug everything back in and your Dyson will live to suck again!
