Very durable accessories

I bought this camera mount three years ago to use with my DSLR but to be honest I didn't use it much until this year. I've always been very paranoid about using it with my DSLR outside of a moving car, even after using it many times while mounting it in a car (never dropped it or anything). I recently mounted a GoPro on a Jeep's windshield and went off-road. After about 45 minutes of intense pounding over rough terrain, rocks and hills, this thing didn't budge! When installing, make sure the surface is clean and there is no dirt, grime or other road debris on the suction cups. Also, make sure it's not on top of stickers or stickers. I've found that the best way to install it is to first loosen the knobs that control the angle of the suction cups, and then, after sucking, tighten those knobs. It's a great piece and I have no regrets at all that I bought the three suction cup model. I actually think that a dual suction cup model like this gives you a lot of flexibility and mounting options, especially if you're using a small/lightweight camera (like a GoPro). Three years later, this off-road test was the ultimate test for me. I also left it on the Jeep's windshield as we drove back into town (make sure your city/town/state allows you to mount the camera on the outside of the car). After this test, I no longer worry about mounting this with a small camera on the outside of a moving vehicle. Remember: A GoPro in a waterproof case is virtually indestructible. Watch a YouTube video of a skydiver accidentally dropping one of the planes. It ends up in a pigsty on a farm, still fully functional (the pig actually tries to eat it - unsuccessfully, I might add). Even in the worst case, if the mount somehow falls off the car, your GoPro is most likely fine. Although I originally bought it to use with my DSLR, I still have some doubts about mounting the DSLR on the outside of the camera. a moving vehicle, simply because of the extra weight. To be honest, although this mount can support a DSLR, I think using an action camera like a GoPro is better anyway. I believe that's simply because when shooting video with a DSLR, you don't have the option to manually adjust the camera settings. something you often have to do when changing settings and lighting. With something like a GoPro, the automatic settings correct things accordingly (not perfectly, and I'm definitely a fan of regular manual shooting, but that's enough). Of course, this depends on your specific needs and I'm sure using a DSLR will prove very good. I would definitely buy this product again. And if I get additional GoPros, I will definitely do that so I can mount cameras anywhere inside and outside a moving vehicle instead of having to take multiple shots for each mounting position.

Pros
  • Easy to assemble
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
