Review on DeShan Universal Punctures Motorcycle Tractor Tools & Equipment by Michael Hemmig

Very good value for money, but hardly usable

I bought this set because of the large variety of items and the fact that it is still relatively cheap overall. Unfortunately, the set is very difficult to use and you'll probably want to have a set of drills and drill bits on hand to use. This MUCH reduces its portability and makes me wish I'd just called tech support instead of putting on a spare or letting them plug in their own. When I tried to use it there was absolutely no chance a fat one could ever fit in my small 1/8" diameter hole. I tried A LOT with the included reamer tool and tried many different positions and methods to place the plug including a lot of grease (which the tire blew all over my clothes. None of this came close to working. I tried using the included razor blade to cut off the thickest part of the fork where you fold it in half to to fit the hole, but that only helped a little. Eventually I got out my cordless drill and started enlarging the hole in the tire to fit the end cap. I ended up drilling a 3/8" hole (the smallest , which I was able to do to finally get the plug to fit). that's MASSIVE for a punctured tire. In the end I finally put the plug in the hole and cut off the excess like the instructions said. The tire was able to hold the air immediately and did not lose pressure in the 3 days and about 50 miles that I drove on it. I ended up having to replace the tire anyway as the hole was too close to the sidewall for long term use so I can't comment on how well the plugs are holding up.

Cons
  • Ugly packaging
