Review on πŸ“· Black Logitech C925-e Webcam with HD Video and Integrated Stereo Microphones by Julie Weigel

Microphone doesn't work with standard work apps like Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, etc.

When it suddenly came time to spend a lot of time remotely in online meetings, me decided to invest in a decent camera and read a lot of reviews. Although this camera was quite expensive (and overpriced when in short supply) I decided to buy it based on a review of the image quality and because it had its own microphone which had to be decent too. I also wanted the camera to be plug and play because we can't install proprietary software (drivers or whatever) on our work computers. I was using a Mac laptop with additional external large monitors and the idea was for the camera to work independently (sitting on top of one of the monitors) so I don't have to open my laptop (probably at a weird angle and blocking the other external one) . monitors) every time I had to go and leave meetings. That worked for a good month. And suddenly the microphone just stopped working. It works on its own with built-in Mac apps (like making a video of yourself), but no longer works with Google Meets, Teams, and Zoom. I know that each of these applications has its own settings for selecting camera and microphone input. It does not matter. I definitely chose the Logitech microphone as the input for each application. There is also a place in Mac Preferences to select microphone input. Sometimes the Logitech mic showed up there as a selectable input, sometimes it didn't, but even if it was there and you selected it and selected it in the app you were using (e.g. Google Meet) and you had the input volume up, that Microphone still didn't work. It's like he just didn't know. Sometimes it worked when you restarted, but it was annoying because who wants to close all your documents you have open and restart when a meeting call comes in. Rebooting didn't always help. Sometimes switching USB ports fixed the issue, sometimes not. It's just so frustrating because it was so expensive and it just doesn't work for the purpose I bought it for. I could not get any help from technical support. I ended up on a cycle page about checking forums etc. Camera quality is ok. It's good for work but not "wow" for the money. Conclusion: You may need to download special drivers, the microphone does not work well with third-party meeting programs.
