Review on πŸ“ OPTIMUM NUTRITION Classic Whey Protein: Delicious Strawberry Flavor - 5 Pound Tub for Optimal Nutrition by Jackie Harbour

It's ok but there are better

I've been buying protein powder for over 2 years now and have a few criteria: (i) brand needs integrity - don't like semi-metals either powder, thanks; and (ii) the price must be reasonable. I see too many disagreements about taste, mixability, etc. to even that out. I'll try them myself and see what I think. While I'm not commenting on all powders, I decided to weigh in on this product. At first I had an issue where I was supposed to get 6lbs but I got 2lbs. I contacted Revain and received a partial refund. Simple solution and I was satisfied. So let's get to the powder. miscibility. Overall, I've found protein isolate to mix MUCH easier than a blended protein powder like this. This makes sense as the isolate is more chemically degraded, so my expectations are moderate. Still, it's not the best blending powder of its kind, but it's not terrible either. You have to shake it. Flavor: Flavor isn't disgusting, but it's not great either. Sometimes you can get a lump in your mixture that is less than pleasant. Generally you won't be transported to a place where you'll forget you're drinking a protein shake, but few do. Price: For the price it was quite a steal but I wouldn't look for that product lol. I have seen a better product for a similar price. Conclusion: Personally, I would pay a little more for a better product than this one and there are (depending on your taste). If you want great mixability without using a blender and don't mind paying a little more, I would go with Protein Isolate. Overall I'm not upset with this purchase and I'm 90% done with the tub but I don't think I would buy it again.

Pros
  • Great value blend of whey protein concentrates, isolates and hydrolysates
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
