Review on ๐Ÿงด OXO Good Grips Precision Pour Glass Oil Dispenser - 12 oz: Get Mess-Free Cooking and Accurate Measurements by Stacie Bird

Shame on you OH This product is almost impossible to open.

I usually have to refill my olive oil dispenser every 1-2 weeks. (We use A LOT of olive oil in cooking.) Since OXO is known for their easy-to-open products, I figured it would be easy to open the dispenser, pour in some oil, close the dispenser, and move on. .I was wrong. The top of the product is a smooth, ceramic-like plastic (not polypropylene, maybe ABS or something with crystalline styrene added?). Guess what happens if even the tiniest drop of oil gets on it? Yes, it will be slippery. Glass is inherently slippery and here too the tiniest drop of oil creates a very smooth surface. The top of the dispenser is made of slippery plastic with a metal part sticking out. The lower part of the dispenser is made of glass. There is NOTHING that can give you leverage. (Don't try to use a piece of metal as a lever. I cut myself on this once.) It takes me an average of 1-2 minutes to open the dispenser: 1. Wipe off excess oil with a paper towel. 2. Try unsuccessfully to open the dispenser. 3. Take a soapy cloth and wipe the outside of the dispenser. 4. Rinse the cloth and go over the dispenser again. 5. Wipe the dispenser with a paper towel. 6. Unsuccessfully try to open the dispenser and wince when a piece of metal bites your hand. 7. Look for rubber handles in the litter box. 8. Raise your hands and close the drawer. 9. Take a kitchen towel and wrap it around the dispenser. 10. Unsuccessfully attempt to open the dispenser. 11. The dispenser almost fell off. 12. Take another kitchen towel to the bottom of the dispenser. 13. Rotate the dispenser until the face turns red. The dispenser is FINALLY opening. If you think the description above sounds like a story about a mountain from a commercial, try opening this thing right after you've used it. Every time I use the dispenser, a drop or two of oil runs down the side panel. If I were to venture a guess, I'd say the problem with this dispenser is this: the lever and c) the silicone seal inside the dispenser cause extra friction, making the dispenser harder to open than it should be. I'm an ordinary woman with average arm strength. I can't imagine an elderly man with arthritis trying to open this dispenser.
