Dogs have lived in my house for more than 16 years. I vacuum. A lot of. But the stairs are inconvenient with a vacuum cleaner. To my surprise, most of what I got off the carpeted stairs with this thing was MY OWN HAIR! There was some dog hair as well, but it was mostly human hair! 😱 I was shocked and amazed that I'm actually not bald at all. If you have hair and carpet, you need this item. If you have pets that shed and you have a rug, you REALLY need this item. I tried a few smacks on an uneven/knotted tweed fabric chair and if I pressed harder or took or took more than a few smacks it would definitely snag the fabric. With that in mind I would be very wary of using this on a Berber rug. My stools are light colored so I knew they were "hairless" but wanted to try them for this review. Still 5 stars for me because I don't need to use it on my furniture and I don't have a Berber rug. I then tried it out on my fabric sofa, which has a smoother fabric that looks almost like faux suede and slides perfectly without snagging.
