It's too much for my dog and I still change the water every morning because the birds come and make it dirty, which wouldn't happen if I could only fill the plate halfway. Also, I screw in the supplied plug from the inside of the plate, not the bottom. There is not enough space between the ground and the slab to open the drain from below every morning.
