The risers were purchased to increase the height of the under bed storage as the new bed frame did not fit 14". While it would be great if the overall riser size was smaller (perhaps a 2.5" square) to accommodate the smaller (thinner) metal legs, these were the smallest squares available. Each free end has a margin of about 1/2 inch to hold the big foot. and comes with two smaller riser pieces that fit into the larger square for smaller legs. The two small pieces were very helpful, although we still have room in each rectangle. Even with the extra space in each of the 6 risers, the bed's legs will not slide into the riser and the riser will stay in place. It was a very economical purchase, saving a day from the need for under bed storage. Would buy again.
