The LUCID trundle bed was purchased to use as an extra guest bed when the family came to visit. I was a little nervous about the setup after reading other people's feedback about misaligned holes, but I think if there were any manufacturing issues at any point they have since been addressed. Installation took just a few minutes and required no action. Tool. The two legs on the underside of the bed are already attached and can be easily folded up. After folding the legs, two crossbars and four wheels are added. Cross bars prevent the legs from collapsing and the wheel blocks are held in place by a wing nut that is easy to hand tighten. There are also four additional crossbars fitted between each of the four pairs of bed legs. (Once attached, the legs will automatically raise and lower as you fold or lower the bed.) They're held in place with eight more screws and wing nuts. I encountered a faulty wing nut (poor thread) on each of the beds I ordered, but an extra one was included in the package so I had everything I needed to complete the setup. After attaching the four support bars, the bed can be folded down and all that remains is to open the memory foam mattress and place it on the bed platform. A few notes/tips: 1. Be sure to allow the mattress a few days to fully expand after installation. Like other memory foam products, the mattress is vacuum packed and will take some time to fully expand. (Although I tested it after only a few hours and it was already very comfortable.) 2. After stretching the mattress, I would suggest leaving it in a garage or a well-ventilated area. At first I put the beds in the common room with no noticeable odor, but when they were assembled and moved to a smaller room, there was a distinct smell of fresh foam padding. The smell went away after a few days, but I left the bedroom window open for ventilation.3. When you fold the bed for the first time, it can be lifted at one end. One thing I noticed about my beds is that there are small rods sewn into pockets around the edges of the platform (to attach the springs) that have shifted a bit during shipping. I had to push a pole in a bit and the bed stayed up. Linens: I've used double sized sheets with no problem, but if you want the bottom sheet to fit snugly against your mattress I would suggest buying sheet clips/grippers. You can buy sheets that fit without pegs, but I was able to buy twin sheets and pegs for both rollaway beds for a lot less than a single sheet set. Height: The bed is not very high off the floor. This is not a problem for children who fall out of bed at night or teenagers. For older guests, you should look for a cot that is higher off the ground as it may be difficult for them to get in or out of this bed.6. The weight. The bed frame and mattress together are very light and can be easily moved on the casters provided. As for the weight the bed can support, I couldn't find the weight listed, but a 275 lb adult used it with no problem. Overall I am very happy with the two beds I have purchased and will likely purchase a few more as our family gatherings continue to grow. One of the nicest things about this bed is that it doesn't have any uncomfortable crossbars to press against your back. The platform provides good support and allows the bed to mold to the shape of your body. This is a very comfortable extra bed. **UPDATE 2016**** As I thought I needed to add another rollaway bed to the collection for visiting family members. When I installed the new bed I noticed a few changes which I want to mention because it changed some of my notes from previous purchases of the same bed. Jump to #1 above: The memory foam mattress topper is no longer vacuumed in shipping. Instead, a fully expanded mattress is sealed in a plastic bag with a couple of desiccant bags and shipped fully expanded in a cardboard box. This means you don't have to wait for the mattress to expand before using it. Change to #3 above: The manufacturer has changed the way the poles are sewn into the rim of the support platform and you no longer have to worry about the poles slipping out of your pockets. This is a small but very nice change that also makes the support platform more complete. New Change: The zippered mattress cover that sits on top of the memory foam mattress core now has a non-slip textured surface on the bottom to keep the mattress in place on the platform. In addition, it becomes much easier to fold the bed after use. (The old covers were fabric on all sides and could slip when the beds were folded. I am still very happy with these beds (both original and bought new) and continue to use them to visit friends/family.
