The Wii does not support upscaling to 1080p. And this device doesn't just magically let you upscale to 1080p because it connects. I need to widen the picture on the TV to get rid of the edges. So not really 1080p. It's upscaled to 480p and bad. While better than the native square Wii image for me, this item is not a 1080/720p device, just a zoomer. It's better than 480p, but there are noticeable scaling issues; The edges of the lines are poorly pixelated, the colors are fuzzy and there are small artefacts. So not only is 480p a 4:3 resolution, this unit also upscales to 1080p/720p 4:3, not the current 16:9 standard, so you'll have square issues. that doesn't matter. This is an improvement over 480p 4:3. But only slightly.
