My children have just turned 9 and 11 years old. I'm always looking for "hands on" activities/products that can really stimulate their creativity and keep them busy for a while, effectively diverting their attention from the TV or mine. Boat. For us, Fimo was fabulous. My kids worked together for hours to create their own board game, sculpting all of the game pieces out of clay. My daughter started making her own earrings (picture attached) and to her surprise people wanted to buy them. We learned something. Follow the directions on the baking package. Easy to overcook or undercook; both can weaken the tone and make it prone to cracking. Use the wire to create structure and connect other pieces of clay (e.g. head to body). We learned before that if the attached pieces weren't reinforced with wire, they would easily come loose after baking. Be careful with black. It will definitely melt at higher temperatures - much more so than other paints. This year we will make Christmas decorations for our Christmas tree. I will also post these photos.
