I can't help but agree with everyone else in this book. A pleasant surprise, to say the least. Like so many others, I'm so tired of thinking I'll get a book worthwhile just for finding some new information and lots of unnecessary filler. This book exceeds all of my expectations. Lisa Lam is right: her book is the COMPLETE creative guide to making your own bags. I've made several bags using store bought patterns in the past and they've been fine, but I didn't know how to make the best bag, what fabrics and linings to use, and why. Along with the importance of knowing the differences between liner and liner and when and why to use them. . She talks about basic structure and reinforcement and how to achieve the look you want, detailing darts, pleats, gussets, flat bottoms and gathers, and various closure options. You can create by following their very detailed themes. And what an incredible bonus to have actual patterns to work with. Wow, I can't believe how much information Lisa has packed into this "Bible"! This book is great for both beginners and those of us with some sewing experience who want to make custom bags. This book is essential for anyone who wants to think outside the box and create unique bags. And it was just right for me to make some very nice gifts for some of my lists this year. 5 stars are not enough to rate this book!
