Works temporarily but not for long. I bought this for my 4 year old pup about 3 months ago. She is usually very obedient but easily startled, and since we live in an apartment building, every slamming door annoys her and she starts barking. I bought this collar so it wouldn't bother the neighbors and it works for a while but I've had to change the batteries twice since I've had it and if I don't take it off at least once a week then your neck starts rubbing . Without him, she starts barking at every sound again. It doesn't condition or train her in any way, so she just goes back to her old habits. I had to buy a pack of 10 batteries so I could easily replace them every few months if needed. Also, I have to readjust the collar every few days or so because he doesn't feel her bark right away anymore. It takes about 4 or 5 loud barks before it starts beeping. Hits the target honestly.
