Alpaca wool really makes a big difference in softness! It smells strongly of lanolin, which many reviewers describe as a chemical smell. It will dissipate over time, but it's the natural smell of wool and for me it's a sign of a 100% wool product :) I'm very happy with this amazing blanket! For anyone wondering how to wash, make sure you use a good wool soap (there's plenty to choose from) and yes you can put it in the washing machine on a gentle setting, but it usually suffices to remove the stain if you have no, your ceiling was covered in mud or something. If you choose to use a washing machine, simply lay out your laundry to dry and scrub them with a boar hair brush. Brushing gives the wool a soft feel that you lose in the washing machine.
