I bought 2 of these to replace my polar insulated bottles. I just gave them the ultimate test: a 450 mile bike ride. I was hoping to avoid two main issues related to dehydration during long days of riding: the taste of plastic and liquid at room temperature. These bottles were a success. The lack of aftertaste and cold drinks helped me stay hydrated throughout the trip. I used ice in both bottles at first and the ice has lasted over 5 hours after a few refills. Big. But the sound of ice spatter was too distracting on long and slow climbs. So I just filled the bottles up with cold Gatorade in the morning and kept the second bottle in reserve until the end of the trip when I really needed a cold refreshment. Straw lid, take the ring on your finger, lift it up and drink. The ring was a sure way to handle the bottle. Pros: Holds the same volume as a Polar bottle. Keeps drinks (or ice) cold for hours. The finger ring was easy to hold. No plastic taste. I'm hoping to experiment with ice molds (popsicles maybe?) that will help me avoid ice sloshing noises. I will also be using them in my golf bag for cold drinks this summer.
