1 MONTH UPDATE: I've been using it about once a week for about a month now. I have very clear, indisputable evidence that this works. Strangely, circles with no hair growth appear even though the glass lens is rectangular. The fact is that the device certainly works, but in small parts at a time. The instructions recommend doing treatments twice a week for 8 weeks but this is the holiday season so I only do sessions when I can. Also, I can be lazy with hair removal of any kind in the winter. I haven't used laser hair removal long enough to get any results. About 8 years ago I had real laser hair removal at an imaging salon. This worked well for about 3 years and then the hair started to appear very slowly I am told. When I saw this IPL hair removal kit at home, I decided to try it on my new hair. My plan was to mainly use it on the shins and forearms. I started at level 1 and went up to level 5 on my first mission. I could tell the difference between the levels, but I didn't find any area painful. I don't have sensitive skin or poor pain tolerance, light/medium skin tone, dark brown hair. A few times I could feel something, it was just a sensation of intense heat, like a hot seat belt buckle touching your leg for a short time. The instructions were clear and I found the device very easy to use. I was able to complete my shins and armpits in 20 minutes by going through each area twice. The cable is not very long and the device must be plugged in during operation. The outlet in my bathroom is at waist height and I had to put my foot on the vanity to reach the cord. You could probably sit on the floor next to a regular outlet and reach most areas, but I definitely recommend being near a mirror. So far I am satisfied with the IPL device for the home. So convenient that you can use the device at home and at your own pace.
