Review on ๐ŸŽฎ HORI Xbox 360 Real Arcade Pro VX SA KAI: The Ultimate Gaming Controller for Xbox 360! by Todd Amarsingh

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great tournament/arcade quality stick

are further away than the Hori RAP VX-SA Kai. I was looking for a new joystick to replace my old MadCatz Standard Edition, so I checked out Revain and after some thought, settled on this one. It really depended on this, or one of the new MadCatz sticks, as not only was I looking for a good stick in the $100-$150 price range, I knew I could count on one. I picked this one only because I really liked the design, and not at all because I thought it was "better" than its competitors. The buttons and joystick are all made by Sanwa, and the gates in the joystick are square. For me personally I don't mind either but for others it might be a problem but at least you can slightly mod this kid and change the gate to octagonal if you like. The buttons are quite far from the stick, so you probably won't feel "cramped" while working. I'm not sure how easy it is to swap out the buttons and image on this joystick, but if you choose to do so, be aware that it will void your warranty. Now you cannot select crosspad on this joystick. , as you may have heard (you can only choose between the left stick or the right stick), but that wasn't a problem for me. I know that using the left stick on MadCatz joysticks can cause unwanted actions and movement, but I can say with confidence that you will not experience this with this arcade joystick. If that's why you've been looking for another stick or because of this circumstance you've shied away from this one, then that's no problem either. The really cool thing about this stick is that you can move some of the buttons, which you can't do on MadCatz. The start button feels very similar to other buttons, and accidentally pressing and pausing the game can result in disqualification from tournaments. You can toggle the launch and back buttons on this little one with a lever, though, so launch is up and you don't stand a chance of hitting it unless you have huge hands or something. You can also toggle LB and RB with the left and right stick buttons, although I can't see why you would need that as I didn't need it. Despite all that, I've never accidentally hit the start button, and even subconsciously it seems like you'd have a hard time doing so unless, again, you have giant fingers or hands. The VX-SA Kai is a decent weight, which was exactly what I was looking for as the MadCatz SE tended to fly out of my lap when things got hectic during a fight. This one should stay in place nicely and even has padding underneath to ensure that. There are also handles on the side so the stick is easy to hold and lift. I figured it would be a pretty handy feature that isn't strictly needed, but a novelty that I'm really enjoying. Finally, you can store the USB cable in the compartment on top of the flash drive, but that's about it. The compartment should have been bigger. Inserting the cable fully isn't difficult, but it should have been wider and taller like the MadCatz Cross Tekken sticks, it would have been easier. Minor complaint and my only real complaint about the stick. All in all a really great stick. I've been using the RAP VX-SA Kai for a few weeks now with no problems. It seems durable enough to last for quite a while, although I've heard that if you're the kind of person who sweats a lot, the art can start to peel off. That being said, I would definitely recommend this stick to fans of fighting games.

Pros
  • Accessible expansion port for connecting a headset and 3m cable stores conveniently in the cable storage box when not in use
Cons
  • Some cons
