LOVE THIS SWING! This is the same style and quality of children's swings that you will find in a public park. The only difference is that it's higher at the back. So yes, if you want your child to face the other way, you have to detach them and flip the swing. It easily joined our playset for life, no additional hardware required. My 8 month old loves to swing on this swing. She still has room to grow. I know other reviews said it was big for a toddler. Well, I guess it's not much, but a toddler should never be rocked unsupervised or pushed very high. So for me personally I don't see a problem. It's easy enough to stuff them into a rolled up towel or swing blanket to take up an open space. The coated chains are great and really long. I hooked the swing to our playset 3 links above the coated chain and had about 2 feet of extra chain left. I will definitely recommend/buy this product again! :)
