I have to wear a belt without a buckle because I'm allergic to metal. I've been using them for at least 20 years. I'm for quality, not fashion. I work a lot with my hands and carry heavy things around my waist, so I rely on something well designed. My previous belt was a hook type (double inward curved hooks). It lasted so long I could only get it off because the skin was almost completely torn. I couldn't find it anymore so I'll take this one (Dickies). After wearing it for almost a year I am disappointed. The ball clasp comes off easily and I have to stop to put it back on. I finally figured out why this is happening and compared it to a similar belt I use at work (which is much thicker, wider, and designed for heavy loads). I found that the holes in the Dickies straps were cut backwards. There is a hole and a slot like you have a metal brace that goes over the head of the screw and then you slide it into a more solid part. The slot is in the opposite direction so the ball stays in the hole instead of sliding into the slot (so it doesn't bounce out). My work belt has the same type of holes/slots but the slots are cut in the opposite direction. I've had it for 20 years and it's never failed. Dickies didn't even last a year. so I'll look elsewhere next time.
