Great taste but requires patience as I use a very thin paper filter which slows down the process considerably. So speed vs taste is a trade off. I prefer maximum taste. After reading other reviews where users reject their paper filters and complain about a big central hole, I reply that in several months of use this has never happened to me! I've been using the Kajava filter for a few months now. My 1st was dropped by a friend and broke. So yes, unexpectedly heavy ceramics will shatter if dropped. But it holds the heat very well (I always preheat the holder, filter paper and glass carafe with very hot water before putting dark roast ground coffee in my hand).
