This is the second Rosewill 2.5 inch PATA case that I have. The first (gifted to a friend a few years ago) had no indicator light or external power connection. Source, so it's definitely an improvement. Whether you're upgrading a laptop with a large drive, migrating a broken laptop with an intact hard drive, or just needing a 2.5" PATA/IDE as a replacement, this is the product you need at a fantastic price. If you are not tech savvy, please note that the instructions state that the installed hard drive must be formatted before use. This only applies to an unformatted (ie brand new, never used) drive or a drive that has been partitioned. If your drive has been used and you are only going to reuse it, you don't need to format it. Formatting removes all data from your drive and prepares it for use. So if you have data on a drive that you want to recover, DO NOT. If I need another USB enclosure I will definitely be ordering another of these Rosewill devices as you can't beat the cost.
