Review on Motorcycle Aluminum Anti Crash Protector Compatible by Shane Ryder

Good quality but beware of this potential problem.

The quality of the components seems to be very good. When installing it on my 2018 KTM Duke 390 I noticed what I think is a major fit issue. I have included a picture of the two screws that you will need to remove and you will replace them with the longer screws and frame slider provided. Please note that the original screw heads are countersunk, they sink into the fastening area when tightened. It seems like a pretty important motor for frame assembly, so they're pretty heavy. When you add a frame slider, its flat base actually rests on the outside edges of the area where the original screws were recessed. It wouldn't be a very good design. That's why they come with washers, they act like really thick washers that fit into the recess so you're tightening the inner frame and not the outer rim. I hope that makes sense. The problem I noticed and almost missed is that the notch on the right side of the bike is much deeper than the one on the left. The included washer was not wide enough to bridge such a large gap and just floated freely inward while the base of the frame slider only tightened at the outer edge. Luckily I have a supply of assorted washers and enough to add 4 washers to each bolt on the right side. This was enough for the gasket to no longer compress the base of the slider just along the rim. Not sure if adding 4 pucks is a good idea, but it's better than the alternative. Can anyone test their install and see if they had this problem? To update. I found Youtube that shows exactly this problem. Search "Frame sliders damaged my Duke 390 in a crash" on Youtube. and skip to about 5:45 and you'll see that the frame pusher did exactly what I was afraid it ripped the outer rim. I can't say 100% but as far as I can see it didn't add extra clearance and the frame slider was right on the outer edge. I am attaching a screenshot of this video. It appears to be a different brand frame slider, but the problem is the same.
