When I bought the house, the previous owner had a bundle of speaker cables hanging on the wall. Also, these cables were so short that I had to position my sound system very close to the wall. On top of that, there were no markings on the cables as to which wire corresponded to which polarity. This product solved all these problems. I worked with my daughter to determine the polarity of each wire using a D cell battery and a multimeter. Once I figured it out, I was able to hook it up to the back of this record and never had to think about it again. I was then able to run new speaker wire with banana plugs that make it easy to connect the speaker to the sound system! I've included some photos of the steps I took on my project so others can have the same success. Simply cut a hole in the drywall on the side of the box opposite the stud. Then use the low voltage group expander to turn the 1 piece box into a 2 piece box. Since the previous owners used a standard outlet, I drilled a hole in the side to route the left speaker wires through. I then calculated the polarity of the wires as described in the previous paragraph. Finally I fixed the speakers properly and screwed everything to the wall. I had a bad cut for my box extension but that's on me not this product.
