I used to enjoy reading John Grisham's books but lost interest in his books and haven't read them for many years. I picked up this book hoping that it would reignite my enthusiasm for his novels. It's not like this. This book was written in his familiar fast-paced style, but the plot wasn't that far-fetched. None of the characters were particularly likeable, so I really couldn't get into any of them. Most notably, I found the story too naive about Grisham's perception of presidential politics and how easy it was for him to win. I don't think elections can be won as easily with simple one-off messages and lots of money as Grisham suggests. That's one of the reasons I stopped reading his work, because his books lacked a believable plot and instead felt like fantasy in an alternate reality. This book seems to continue the tradition that his other middle books seem to embody. I'm not sure I'll continue with another one, but in 15 years, who knows.
