Review on Gingher 01 005281 Inc by Jessica Lewis

I remember on a special occasion when I was younger my mother was given a pair of scissors which I believe were the equivalent of 20cm dressmaking scissors. She was delighted and used them carefully for many years. She still uses them today. I recently started sewing and thought there could be something better as technology will surely continue to evolve over the course of 15 years. I was wrong, Gingher is still number one and her classic style still dominates. Bought this 7 inch pair and absolutely love it. They come in a beautiful red pewter lining. This model does not include a leather sheath. So if you are concerned I would recommend getting the 8 inch dressmaker scissors as they come with a glass and sheath. Personally, that doesn't bother me because I don't have to worry about small children or pets getting injured. As soon as you open a can, the shiny pair of scissors screams quality. When you pick up a pair of scissors, you immediately know they are well balanced. The center of balance is just in front of where your index finger enters the bedknife. The weight is significant but not onerous, exactly 1/4 pound. I like the 7" size because I feel like I have a lot of control over my cuts. It's very sharp, and while I plan to buy Gingher 4" embroidery scissors for this task, it's useful for trimming of thread and for cutting seams !) Duck canvas on a recent project where I was making reusable shopping bags These scissors are marked under the "Gingher" logo to indicate they are made in Italy As far as I know , the sharpening of the blades takes place in South Carolina. The tin they come in is made in China. Another reviewer mentioned that they had rusting problems on their shears. I live in a fairly dry climate (Colorado Springs), so that's not a problem for me.I can't help but wonder if this reviewer lives in a very humid climate or if the scissors are stored somewhere with a lot of humidity.These scissors si nd made from no different material than other Gingher models, so you can make sure you're getting the best quality.
