I bought this because I bought a newer Imac that no longer has FireWire 400 ports, only faster 800 ports. I have a couple of camcorders with me Mini FireWire Ports I used to connect to the FireWire 400 ports on older computers. When I decided to go back to the original tapes, I needed a cable that could connect FireWire DV to the newer 800 ports. This cord fit the bill as expected. It worked exactly as expected and at a great price.
