Seemingly strong. I had no trouble fitting them to my existing earrings, but I did have trouble with the other back of the earring being too loose, so maybe all my earrings are small. I had a problem that they irritated my ears. I have 3 piercings in each ear and have only used these new ones on the back of one pair of earrings. My other piercing was fine, but the piercing on this back was becoming a nuisance. Maybe I misunderstood what "sterling silver" means. I buy sterling silver earrings from Kohl and have no problem. I figured the sterling silver back would be fine for my sensitive ears. If you do NOT have sensitive ears I would recommend them. However, if your ears are as picky as mine, I would steer clear.
