It's hard to justify $20 for stamped plastic parts and some fasteners, but they do a great job of turning the Rapid Box's light output into little more than a cosmetic bowl . The panel can be installed in two ways; concave outwards or concave inwards. I haven't really experimented with the differences, although I'm sure the differences will mostly be edge feathering, especially when used without a diffuser face. If you're using the Rapid Box and find too many skin hotspots, you can definitely improve the overall quality of your images by making sure all the light hitting your subject comes from the silver lining. I think the glass- half-full explanation might be that those who just want a basic softbox could save a few bucks by NOT including this in the original product. *twitched*
