If you're into live sound, or are on a budget, or just getting started with a decent recording gear, this is definitely a good place to start. You can put the SM57 in front of anything and get a usable sound. A lot of people love them on snare drums and guitar cabinets and get fantastic sounds from them. I'm sure you could get BETTER sound with other mics, but this is a very versatile mic and great value for money. It never hurts to have 3 mics in a locker. especially if you are making live sound. Haven't used mine live so can't comment on the included rim mounts as I use racks in the studio but they seem to do the job. Given the choice, I probably would have preferred the AKG D112 over the Beta 52, but I couldn't beat the price of this package. I have both and use them for different purposes depending on the sound I want. I'm definitely not complaining about Beta 52. I'm very happy with it and it will definitely find its place in the studio and on stage. Beta 52 is cheaper. especially if you buy it in this bundle. So why limit yourself to a kick mic? Start with this pack and if you feel like you need another microphone in the future when you have extra money, buy another one. The more the better. If your goal is to record drum kit on a budget, get these and some inexpensive small-diaphragm overhead condenser mics (maybe the MXL 603) and you're good to go. If you know exactly what you want and don't mind spending a little more, buy other microphones. If you're on a tight budget (studio OR gig), just starting out with decent gear and need a starting point, or looking for some SM57s and Beta 52s, this pack is for you!
